For a totally education and enlightenment-free trip to a sort of museum, walk one block up from Knott’s [1] to Ripley’s Believe It or Not (7850 Beach Blvd., 714/522-7045, www.ripleysbp.com [2], Mon.–Fri. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 9 a.m.–7 p.m.). Here you’ll see the wild and wacky artifacts said to be “collected” by Robert Ripley on his travels around the globe.
In fine old sideshow style, see exhibits such as the eight-legged pig, the world’s tallest man, the bearded lady, and the human unicorn. Wild tattoos and body modifications figure large into this “museum’s” cache of oddities, so be prepared for small children to get a little bit freaked out by some of the weirdness here.
