For a peaceful break from the endless educational opportunities of Balboa Park [1], take a walk through Palm Canyon. The canyon offers visitors an intense look at various varieties of that ubiquitous California icon: the palm tree.
With 58 species of palms creating a cool, shady space, the Canyon is a perfect place to slow down and enjoy a break on a hot summer day. The Mexican fan palms at the center of the garden have lived here almost 100 years.
The groomed paths connect the canyon to the Old Cactus Garden; the Alcazar Garden also sits adjacent to the palms, and a tram stop nearby makes access a breeze.
