Railyard Park

A massive change for Santa Fe [1], Railyard Park, which extends along the tracks southwest of Paseo de Peralta, has transformed a previously barren space in the center of the city into a green haven.

And not just literally green (because that waxes and wanes according to the seasons), but also figuratively—the park has innovative water-use guidelines and functions as a sort of living museum, with heritage-breed apple trees and other local plants, as well as a restored piece of an acequia, a centuries-old irrigation ditch. A bike path runs along the acequia, which extends off the southwest end of the park.
