On the south edge of Española [1], this animal-rescue operation (Wheat St., 505/753-9505, www.thewildlifecenter.org [2], 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Wed.–Sat., $4) gives visitors the chance to see some of New Mexico’s rarer mammals, such as bobcats, and birds up close and learn a bit about ecosystems in the state. Look for signs to the right just after the stoplight for La Puebla Road.
