Like most big cities, Dallas [1] has a stunning range of hotels, from generic chains on equally uninspiring urban beltways to charmingly restored historic downtown gems. The Big D doesn’t have a long list of options for people interested in soaking up nightlife and responsibly hoofing it back to bed, but most of the best hotels (enchanting historic locales in the heart of the city) are a 5- to 10-minute cab ride from the city’s hopping entertainment districts.
Not surprisingly, the alternatives for those keeping a close eye on their wallets are farthest away from many of the city’s main activities. Keep in mind, safe and affordable hotels in one of the nation’s largest cities will still cost nearly $100 a night, but it beats getting stuck in an anonymous (and ominous) location.
