Stars of the dance world invigorate the tiny town of Becket every summer with the internationally renowned Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (358 George Carter Rd., Becket, 413/243-0745, www.jacobspillow.org [1], mid-June–Aug., free–$55) founded by modern-dance pioneer Ted Shawn. Every style from hip hop to ballet gets its time in the spotlight during the two-month celebration, which includes dozens of free performances and gallery talks.
The main draw, however, is the showcases of artists from around the world, featuring both established companies such as Mark Morris and Alvin Ailey and emerging choreographers like Aszure & Artists.
