Those searching for furniture from the late 18th and 19th centuries will be happy to find Antiques Unlimited (91 Main St., Putnam, 860/963-2599). The selection also features lots of excellent sterling silver (both American and European).
It’s just too cute not to stop in at: Martha’s Herbary (589 Pomfret St., Pomfret, 860/928-0009, www.marthasherbary.com [1], 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tue.–Sun.). It not only sells handmade knickknacks such as pottery, floral wreaths, and cashmere sweaters, the shop also grows its own herbs in the garden outside, and you’ll find them in many of the products inside.
