Okay, you could spend your life traveling the world in search of the finest specimens of classical Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Italian Renaissance sculpture. Or you could just hoof it on over to the impressive Slater Memorial Museum (108 Cresent St., Norwich, 860/887-2506, www.norwichfreeacademy.com [1], 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tue.–Fri.; 1–4 p.m. Sat.–Sun., $3 adults, $2 seniors, free children under 12), located on the campus of the Norwich Free Academy, and see all the same in one place.
Well, almost the same anyway: Founded in 1887, the Slater Memorial Museum has some 150 plaster casts of all of the world’s finest statuary. In recent years, the collection has expanded to include original artwork from around the globe.
