You won’t find many lobsters this far south along the New England coast, but that doesn’t stop Mystic Seaport [1] from celebrating the crustaceans with its annual Lobsterfest (888/973-2767, www.mysticseaport.org [2], May); the celebration includes a lobster bake and music performances under the open-air boat shed.
More than 250 visual artists compete each year in the juried Mystic Outdoor Art Festival (860/572-5098, www.mysticchamber.org [3], mid-Aug.), which also features food and craft vendors ranged along Main Street.
