Ordinarily, community colleges aren’t ones to harbor significant art collections. But the Housatonic Museum of Art (900 Lafayette Blvd., Bridgeport [1], 203/332-5052, www.hcc.commnet.edu/artmuseum [2], 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Mon.–Fri., Thurs. until 7 p.m., 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Sat., noon–4 p.m. Sun. Sept.–May; closed weekends June–Aug., free) on the grounds of Housatonic Community-Technical College is the exception to the rule.
Among the 4,000 objects in the Housatonic Museum of Art’s collection are modern-art originals by Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, Miró, and Chagall.
