West of Manchester [1], Route 100 really takes flight through the heart of the Green Mountains [2], tracing ridges with panoramic views of the valleys below. Tucked into one of them, the tiny village of Weston might be the most scenic in all of Vermont [3], with a collection of lost-in-time houses and shops surrounding a perfect town green.
In fact, the entire town is on the National Register of Historic Places. Despite its beauty, however, Weston might just be a quaint hamlet if not for the presence of the mother of all country stores, the Vermont Country Store [4], which draws tourists in fistfuls. Heading northward, scenic Route 100 skirts around the base of Mount Okemo on its way through hills sprinkled with secluded mountain resorts.
