Most of the nighttime action in Middlebury [1] takes place on-campus, leaving scant choices for the un-matriculated. There are, however, a few attractive bar options, including the casual watering hole Two Brothers Tavern (86 Main St., 802/388-0002, www.twobrotherstavern.com [2], 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. Mon.–Fri.; 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sat.–Sun., $6–12). It’s the kind of place every college town should have. Students pour into its pub area to down tapas and cold beers within its brick walls, under photos of the historic town. (The noshing is as good as the imbibing, too: Dishes are a step above the average pub fare, with specials such as venison stew and chicken roulade.)
Middlebury College’s [3] various musical and theater groups perform at the Middlebury College Center for the Arts (S. Main St./Rte. 30, 802/443-3168, www.middlebury.edu/arts [4]), a 100,000-square-foot facility housing an intimate black-box theater, a dance studio, and large recital hall.
