In the remote eastern section of the Kingdom, Brighton State Park (102 State Park Rd., Island Pond, 802/723-4360) has 5 cabins, 23 lean-tos and some 60 tent sites tucked into a stand of white birch on the pristine shores of Spectacle Pond. It’s not uncommon to see moose on the park’s nature trails. Just a short walk from the campground, campers have use of a sandy beach with boat rentals, play area, and a small nature museum.
