You’ve heard of Cinderella and Humpty Dumpty, but what about Professor Bigglestep and Doctor Geyser? You’ll meet all of the above at the over-the-top StoryLand amusement park (850 Rte. 16, Glen, 603/383-4186, www.storylandnh.com [1], 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily May–Oct.; until 6 p.m. mid-June–early Sept., $25 per person, free children under 4) that tries to outdo Disney at its own game.

The rides are tame, and the whole shebang is a bit overpriced for what you get—then again, it’s a bargain compared to Disneyland, and if you have little ones in tow, the look on their faces will be worth every dime.
