Most restaurants in the area have a sameness to the menu, sporting the tried-and-true surf, turf, and pasta dishes they have served for decades. (The silver lining in the deal is that prices haven’t changed much over the years either.)
In that category, Uncle Kippy’s (County Rd., Rte. 189, Lubec, 207/733-2400, www.unclekippys.com [1], 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Sat., closed Sun. June–Sept., $8–19) stands at the head of the pack for its fresh-caught seafood, charbroiled steaks, and homemade pizzas.
All of Lubec seems to head into Atlantic House Coffee Shop (52 Water St., Lubec, 207/733-0906, www.atlantichouse.net [2], 7 a.m.–3 p.m. daily, $4–12) for breakfast on the weekends, and nearly half the town shows up on weekdays. Do so yourself, and be sure not to bypass the freshly made donuts.
