On the shores of Moosehead [1], the little town of Greenville exploits the local fauna with several moose-themed stores. Moosin’ Around Maine (Pritham Ave., Greenville, 207/695-3929) is a mandatory stop for a moose T-shirt, mug, or magnet; it also features made-in-Maine pottery and blown glass.
More unique finds can be unearthed at Kamp Kamp (Pritham Ave., Greenville, 207/695-0789, www.moosehead [2] lakeindianstore.com, daily Jun.–mid-Aug.; weekends only mid-Apr.–May and Sept.–Dec.), an old time “Indian store” re-created in exquisitely kitschy detail by the owners, who visited the lake frequently as children. In addition to camp furniture and souvenirs, it sells raccoon hats, rattlesnake eggs, slingshots, and other oddities.
