The Swan River National Wildlife Refuge is a nesting area for bald eagles, blue herons, and other birds. Canada geese, whistling swans, and mallards winter here. Other animals that can be spotted in this marsh, grassland, and river habitat include elk, moose, deer, beavers, river otters, muskrats, and grizzly and black bears.
The refuge is on the Swan River in the northern part of the Swan Valley [1], near the town of Swan Lake.
