McGee Meadows

Five miles up Camas Creek Road from Apgar [1], McGee Meadows is a marshy magnet for wildlife. Moose are particularly fond of such boggy areas and may be spotted by quiet evening visitors. The road here is relatively high and exposed, yielding good views of the park’s mountains. To the west there are a couple of hiking trails from Camas Creek Road into the Apgar Mountains. Howe Ridge is to the east, and ridge runners must hike up from the Inside North Fork Road; the trail past shallow Howe Lake crosses moose and beaver habitat.
