Across the street is the Powell County Museum (1199 Main St., 406/846-1694), which contains dinosaur bones, Indian tools, mining equipment, cowboy gear, and other relics of Powell County’s rich history. Nearby is Yesterday’s Playthings (1017 Main St., 406/846-1133), a doll and toy museum. The collection features 1,000 antique dolls from the private collection of Genevieve Hostetter.
The Frontier Montana Museum (1153 Main St., 406/846-0026) displays Western memorabilia, with a particular focus on guns and saloon memorabilia.
Your ticket to the Old Montana Prison Complex [1] includes admission to all of the above museums as well; these smaller museums close down from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
