Visitor Center [1]: Officially called the Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center, this large facility provides a one-stop introduction to the region, with information on the town, national forests, and the Elk Refuge.
Town Square [1]: Where else could you mix three million tourists, hundreds of elk antlers arranged in arches, and a faux shoot-out on summer evenings?
National Museum of Wildlife Art [2]: One of Wyoming’s top museums, with works by all the American masters, from Alfred Jacob Miller to Robert Bateman.
National Elk Refuge [3]: Winter is the peak season, with thousands of elk and horse-drawn sleighs in a scene straight out of Currier and Ives.
River Rafting [4]: Running the Snake River is a major summertime attraction, with many companies providing the raft and guide for a whitewater rock-and-roll or a gentle float trip past the Tetons.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort [5]: This famous ski area keeps on trucking with all sorts of winter and summer activities — including an all-summer classical music festival, pop-jet fountains, and the tram up Rendezvous Mountain.
Alaska Basin [6]: This one’s for backpackers, with access from Driggs, Idaho to the heart of the Teton Range. It’s a gorgeous alpine valley, where high trails lead into Grand Teton National Park.
