Condominiums provide a popular option for families and groups visiting Jackson Hole [1]. These privately owned places are maintained by several local property-management companies and vary from small studio apartments to spacious five-bedroom houses. All are completely furnished (including dishes) and have fireplaces, cable TV, phones, and mid-stay maid service if you remain more than five nights. The nicest also include access to pools and hot tubs and have balconies overlooking the spectacular Tetons.
Many of the condominiums are in Teton Village (adjacent to the ski area) or a couple of miles south in Teton Pines or the Aspens; others are scattered around Jackson Hole, so make sure you get a place close to your interests.
Condo prices vary widely depending upon location and amenities, but during the winter holiday season (Christmas-early Jan.), expect to pay $190-230 per night for studio or one-bedroom condos (1-2 people). Two-bedroom units (up to four people) cost $280-320 per night, and full four-bedroom/three-bath condos (these sleep eight) run $375-520 per night. The most sumptuous places will set you back $4,800 nightly in the peak winter season, but if you’re feeling flush with cash, rent one of the finest homes for a mere $28,000 a month!
Summer and off-peak winter rates are often 35-50 percent lower, with spring and fall rates 50-70 percent lower than peak-season prices. In fall or spring, condos offer a real bargain for traveling families looking to stay several nights in the area. Minimum stays of 3-7 nights are required throughout the year, with the longest minimum stays required in the peak winter season.
If you have the luxury of time, do a little comparison shopping before renting a condo. Things to ask include whether you have access to a pool and hot tub, how close you are to the ski slopes, how frequent the maid service is, and whether the units include such amenities as Wi-Fi, DVD players, flat-screen TVs, washers, and dryers. Also be sure to find out what beds are in the rooms, because couples might not enjoy sleeping in twin bunk beds. Ask about the age and condition of the condos, since some are dated. The newest units are at Love Ridge (next to Snow King Resort) and White Buffalo Club (downtown). Fortunately, the rental companies provide helpful online photos, floor plans, and other details for the various styles of condos.

The largest of these businesses—and a good place to begin your search—is Jackson Hole Resort Lodging. Owned by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, it manages about 200 places. Other large management companies include Rendezvous Mountain Rentals and Snow King Resort Condominiums. The last of these also owns (and can book condos at) Grand View Lodge & Spa and Love Ridge Resort Lodging.
Two resorts offer fractional-ownership condos in Jackson Hole [1]: The Residence Club at Teton Pines (307/733-1005 or 800/238-2223, www.tetonpinesresidenceclub.com [14]) and The Teton Club (307/734-9777 or 866/352-9777, www.tetonclub.com [15]). The Teton Club is right at the base of Jackson Hole Resort, making it perfect for skiers, while Teton Pines offers an upscale country club with a golf course and other amenities. Members typically share ownership and stay for 4-12 weeks per year.
Also check out the White Buffalo Club (160 W. Gill Ave., 307/734-4900 or 888/256-8182, www.whitebuffaloclub.com [16]), a member-only operation in the heart of Jackson.

Rancho Alegre Lodge (3600 S. Park Loop Rd., 307/733-7988, www.ranchoalegre.com [19]) offers Jackson’s most expensive lodging. On a 50-acre spread facing the Tetons, this 10,000-square-foot structure houses seven bedrooms (each with its own TV/VCR, phone, and fridge) and offers an upscale hunting lodge decor along with such amenities as concierge service, a private chef available for hire, seven fireplaces, extensive decks, a hot tub, and a pool table. Full-house rentals (up to 20 guests) are $2,600 per night, including continental breakfasts, with a four-night minimum stay in the summer (and four times $2,600 is $10,400...). At these prices, the lodge is primarily used for weddings, corporate retreats, large and wealthy families, and ski groups.
At the base of the mountains in Wilson, Trail Creek Ranch (307/733-2610, www.jacksonholetrailcreekranch.com [20]) operated as a dude ranch for 50 years. Lodging on this 270-acre spread ranges from a double room with a king bed ($140; no kitchen) to a two-bedroom cabin ($270) with full kitchen that’s perfect for friends. All units have private baths and limited Wi-Fi, but no distracting TVs. Families love the heated outdoor pool. Trail Creek is open June-September, with a three-day minimum stay.
In addition to the lodging places described, visitors to Jackson Hole [1] may want to investigate a house exchange. Several online companies list homeowners in Jackson [21] who are interested in a trade if you have an upscale home, especially one on the beach in midwinter! If you live in Hawaii or Costa Rica and want to go skiing, your home might be a hot property. If you live in North Dakota or Baghdad, good luck. Companies worth investigating include:
