Named for legendary blues composer W. C. Handy, Handy Park, on Beale Street [1], between 3rd Street and Rufus Thomas Boulevard, seems a tad out of place among Beale’s nightclubs and restaurants. But the park is a site of historic importance, if only because of the statue of its namesake that guards its gates.
The park hosts occasional outdoor concerts and festivals, and at other times you will find places to sit and a handful of vendors.
