If there is one false assumption that many people have about Nashville [1], it is that this is a strictly country town. In fact, Nashville has a vibrant rock ’n’ roll music scene, plus good blues and jazz. So in a city where country music rubs shoulders with great rock, blues, and Americana, most live music venues refuse to be pigeonholed.

Venues here are categorized by their predominant music type, but keep in mind that variety is the name of the game. Most bars and clubs charge a cover when there is a band or performer, while songwriter nights and open mics are usually free.
