There are several Greek restaurants amid Nashville’s [1] office towers and State buildings. One of the best is Santorini (210 4th Ave., 615/254-4524, Mon.–Fri. 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m., $3.50–5.75). Choose from falafel, gyro, chicken, or spinach pie, served as a plate (with rice, salad, and pita), salad (with pita, tabouli, and salad), or meal (with fries). The food is fresh and well prepared, and the premises are neat and clean.
Located in the downtown Arcade, House of Pizza (15 Arcade, 615/242-7144, Mon.–Fri. 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sat. 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) serves up thick- and thin-crust varieties, massive stromboli, mighty lasagna, and huge meatball subs. The restaurant is small; eating in can be a challenge, especially since Nashvillians flock here for the best pizza in town.
