Oak Ridge’s [1] premier attraction is the American Museum of Science and Energy (300 S. Tulane Ave., 865/576-3200, www.amse.org [2], Mon.–Sat. 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sun. 1–5 p.m., adults $5, seniors $4, children 6–17 $3). The museum serves double-duty: It houses an exhibit about the development of Oak Ridge, and it is a science museum for young people.
The historical exhibit relies on newspaper clippings, original documents, and audio visuals to describe Oak Ridge during World War II. The science museum has features dedicated to types of energy, including nuclear.
