Mount LeConte

Mount LeConte seems to keep watch over the Smokies [1]. The 6,593-foot peak stands sentry over the foothills; its size makes it easy to identify, even from a distance. Accessible only by foot, Mount LeConte is a destination for hikers who yearn for a sense of accomplishment.

And what an accomplishment it is, with spectacular views and beautiful scenery along the way. The peak is also home to LeConte Lodge, the only indoor accommodation in the park.
