The form of the Sacred Rock, which is flanked by sacred wayrana buildings, is identical to the form of the mountain Yanantin located in the foreground. Before this rock was protected a few years ago, hundreds of Machu Picchu [1] visitors would spread their arms across this rock each day to feel its energy.
Behind the Sacred Rock to the left is the entrance to Huayna Picchu and the Temple of the Moon [2], and to the right is a short trail that heads back in the direction of the Guards’ Quarters [3] (the entrance to Machu Picchu).
This trail leads past a quarry to the Secular Area [4].
