On the south end of the waterfront [1], Pier 36 hosts the Coast Guard Museum (206/217-6993, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Mon., Wed., and Fri. and 1–5 p.m. Sat.–Sun., free) with nautical artifacts, models of Coast Guard cutters, historic photographs, and a 15-minute slide show. The Coast Guard has three 400-foot icebreakers and two 378-foot cutters that are homeported at Pier 36.
