Escape the pretension of downtown’s fine dining scene at Spring Hill (4437 California Ave. SW, 206/935-1075, www.springhillnorthwest.com [1], 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Sat.–Sun. and 5 –9 p.m. Mon., 5:45–10 p.m. Sun. and Tues.–Thurs., 5:45–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat., $25) a chic little place tucked away in West Seattle [2] where you can order high-brow meals minus the self-absorbed attitude.
You’ll find a warm and friendly atmosphere in this dining room bedecked with modern light woods, glazed cement flooring and plenty of light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows up front. The food’s the real star, though. The menu allows you to go as casual or fancy as you like — order anything along the spectrum from the gigantic and juicy burgers to the roasted duck with quinoa waffle.
