Find a small, sunny picnic area and a boat launch at Freeland Park on Holmes Harbor, about two streets over from “downtown” Freeland [1]—just look for the water. The beach is popular with clammers.
Double Bluff Beach Park, three miles south of Freeland, is an interesting place to explore and a good place to find big chunks of soft coal that eroded from the cliff. Do not try to climb these unstable bluffs; a number of people have been injured trying to do so.
