Also here are modern cabins and cottages ($193–230 d). The madrona-draped grounds face Penn Cove. Even if you aren’t staying here, be sure to stop and take in the scenery or sip a drink in the bar. The lodge also operates a 52-foot wooden ketch, the Cutty Sark, with regularly scheduled sailing trips.

These large two-story homes are divided into two duplex units each, with full kitchens and private baths. The basements were built to be used as bomb shelters in case of attack, and some still have the original steel-shuttered windows. These duplexes rent for $165–175 for up to four people.
