One-quarter mile from the ferry terminal, Bainbridge Island Vineyards and Winery (682 Hwy. 305, Winslow, 206/842-9463) is the only place to buy this family-operated winery’s limited-run wines, made from grapes grown on the island. The outdoor picnic area is a refreshing spot for a lunch break, and the antique wine glass collection is worth a gander. Tours and tastings are held noon–5 p.m. Wednesday–Sunday.
Rich Passage Winery (7869 N.E. Day Rd. W, 206/842-8199) is also a small family operation, producing pinot noir, chardonnay, and fumé blanc wines. The winery is generally open for tastings each day, but call ahead to be sure someone is there.
