Glen-Ayr Canal Resort (25381 N. U.S. Hwy. 101, 360/877-9522 or 866/877-9522, www.glenayr.com [1]), 1.5 miles north of Hoodsport [2], is the most elaborate and diverse local resort, with motel rooms for $85–95 s or d. The one-bedroom suites start at $150. A hot tub, recreation room, and marina round out the amenities here. Or park at one of 38 RV sites with full hookups for $33 per day.
Sunrise Motel and Resort (24520 Hwy. 100 on the north side of Hoodsport, 360/877-5301, www.hctc.com/~sunrise [3]) is a favorite of scuba divers and has rooms for $59–69 d. A package including a dorm bed for two nights and three days and including free air tank refills is $60 per person. RV sites are $30 per night, and pets cost an extra $10.
The Waterfront Resort (in Potlatch, 360/877-9422, motel $99 s or d, cabin $138–179 up to 6) offers quite nice shore-view rooms, plus manufactured home–style cabins with kitchens. The resort also rents spaces to RV campers ($38–43 full hookups).
You can’t visit the Hood Canal [4] without feasting on some oysters. In Hoodsport [2], the place to do it is
The Tides (27061 N. U.S. Hwy. 101, 360/877-8921), a family diner that serves up shellfish and smiles. Try the pan-fried oysters, its best dish.
