Recreation in the Sequim [1] area focuses on the protected waters inside the inner harbor of Dungeness Bay, a favorite place for windsurfers and sea kayakers. The six-mile path to the lighthouse on Dungeness Spit [2] is a very popular place for a seaside walk or horseback ride. Dungeness Kayaking (360/681-4190, $90 per person, minimum of two) leads beginners on sea kayak trips around the bay.
Northwest golfers will be in heaven in Sequim, where it is possible to play a round just about any month of the year. There are several championship courses within city limits, but the best is unquestionably the par-72 Dungeness Golf Course (north of Carlsborg on Woodcock Rd., 360/683-6344, www.dungenessgolf.com [3], greens fees $34–39 for 18 holes in summer), which keeps greens pristine and poses some good challenges with its well-positioned bunkers. It’s also got a pretty decent 19th hole: the Dungeness Inn Restaurant.
