Walla Walla University (204 South College Ave., www.wallawalla.edu [1]) is located east of town. The quiet campus of this Seventh-day Adventist school educates some 1,600 students and is particularly strong in business and engineering.
Founded in 1859, Whitman University (www.whitman.edu [2]) was the first higher education center in the West and is home to 1,300 students. The campus is just west of downtown Walla Walla [3]. The tall clock tower, built in 1900, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Walla Walla is also home to 2,200-student Walla Walla Community College (500 Tausick Way, 509/522-2500, www.wwcc.edu [4]).
