A classic Queen Anne Victorian built in 1889, A Touch of Europe B&B (220 N. 16th Ave., 509/454-9775,888/438-7073, www.winesnw.com/toucheuropeb&b.htm [3], $123–136 s or d) serves candlelit European breakfasts (included in rate), high tea ($30), and lavish five- to seven-course dinners ($50) in its elegant dining room. The German- and English-speaking owners provide an acre of shady grounds and three well-appointed guest rooms in a relaxing adults-only environment.

The biggest local B&B, Birchfield plumps the pillows for guests in four luxurious rooms in the 1910 main house and four adjacent, newer cottages.
