Ohme Gardens

Once the private joy of the Ohme family, the highly acclaimed Ohme Gardens (junction of Highways 2 and 97, 509/662-5785, www.ohmegardens.com [1], 9 a.m.–7 p.m. daily Apr. 15–Oct. 15, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily the rest of the year, $7 adults, $3.50 ages 7–17, free for kids under 7) just north of Wenatchee [2] were purchased by the state in 1991.

Now covering nine acres, Ohme Gardens resemble natural alpine scenery: Evergreens, grass, ponds, and waterfalls blend with the existing rock—a cool reprieve from the scorching Wenatchee sunshine.

A lookout from Ohme Gardens’ highest point provides broad views of the valley, Cascades, and Columbia River. Steep drop-offs in some sections make this a hazardous place for toddlers. Please leave your pets at home.
