The Summit Lodge at Snoqualmie Pass (603 Hwy. 906, 425/434-6300 or 800/557-7829, www.snoqualmiesummitlodge.com [1], $139–259) pretty much has the corner on the lodging market up by the Snoqualmie [2] slopes, but it doesn’t let the position get too much to its head. Rooms are decent and clean and the property has an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and a restaurant. Though rates can be on the high side on winter weekends and holidays, discounts are frequently available at other times.
Sitting directly on the slopes, Valley High Mountain Lodge (425/432-1409, $450–600) is an ideal retreat for large groups and big families. This large chalet-style home sleeps a whopping 16, with a kitchen and two fireplaces to warm by once the chairlifts stop turning. Call for directions.
Atop Snoqualmie Pass [3], Family Pancake House at the Summit Inn (425/434-6249, Sun.–Thurs. 6 a.m.–9 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 6 a.m.–11 p.m.) serves hearty meals in front of their enormous fireplace. Have some fluffy pancakes and coffee and let your parka dry off. Food is also available at all four ski areas in the winter.
