Cle Elum’s [1] big event is Pioneer Days (509/674-5958) on the 4th of July, which features family-friendly activities such as a street fair, parade, softball and boccie ball tournaments, and fireworks.
Roslyn’s [2] Coal Miner Days Festival over Labor Day weekend includes coal-shoveling contests, performers, a street fair, and the coronation of King Coal. People and pets step out for October’s Paws on Parade event, featuring a pomp-filled walk through town with local and visiting four-footed friends.
Moosefest in mid-July is a Northern Exposure fan-fest, sometimes complete with a parade, dinner, theater, and live music. The town hosts many other quirky events throughout the year, such as a sled run in mid-January and March’s Running Water Spittoon Race, in which tiny boats face off at the Brick for a purse of up to $200.
