Winding its way east from I-5 through farmland, old growth forests and one of the state’s prettiest alpine passes, White Pass Scenic Byway (US Hwy. 12) runs between Mount Rainier [1] and Mount St. Helens [2]. This makes it an ideal route for wanderlust-filled wayfarers hoping to spend a week or two exploring the state’s two biggest volcanic attractions and the vast stretches of wilderness areas that span between them.
