The Spokane [1] area is home to four colleges and universities, along with two community colleges. Largest of these is Eastern Washington University in nearby Cheney. Other area schools include the private Whitworth College, a branch of Washington State University, and the Community Colleges of Spokane.
One of 28 Jesuit colleges in the U.S., Gonzaga University (Hamilton St. at Centennial Trail, www.gonzaga.edu [2]) is an independent liberal arts school with a wide range of degree programs. The law school at Gonzaga is one of three in Washington. Also here is the Jundt Art Center (509/328-4220) with changing exhibits, along with an extraordinary glass chandelier by Dale Chihuly.
