The Bourse Food Court $

If you’re looking for a quick bite in the middle of sightseeing or need to feed a big, choosy family, the Bourse is a cheap, convenient option. Just across the street from the Liberty Bell [2], Independence Hall [3], and the Constitution Center [4], you’ll find a mall-like food court offering the standards: fast food, pizza, cheesesteaks, and Chinese food.

Several touristy knick-knack and memento shops can also be found inside the grand old building. Built in 1895, the Bourse (meaning “place of exchange” in Middle French) was the brainchild of George E. Bartol.

He got the idea during a visit to Hamburg and decided that Philadelphia [5] needed one of its own. It once housed Philadelphia’s stock, grain, and maritime exchanges and was renovated into its current form in the 1980s.
