Darling’s proudly claims to be purveyors of the “Original Philly Cheesecake“—yes, you heard right, cheesecake, not cheesesteak. I didn’t know there was such a thing, but apparently it’s lighter in color and creamier in texture than the New York variety.
Regardless, they make one damn good cheesecake. There are a selection of other delicious desserts as well, all of which you can order by the slice or a whole pie in advance.
Try the award-winning Bananas Foster cheesecake, the Forbidden Fruit, or the peanut butter silk.
You’re not going to be able to come in without trying the desserts, but the café also serves good breakfast and lunch fare, including soup, salad, and hot and cold sandwiches along with a full coffee bar.
There is also WiFi here and at the café’s second location behind the Franklin Institute [2] (2100 Spring St., 215/496-9611).
