Philadelphia’s [2] answer to Dean & Deluca began as a small family-run cheese shop in the Italian Market [3] in 1940. Two smaller shops still exist in the market—each offering a modest sampling of the massive array of cheeses, stuffed olives, flavored oils, spreads, charcuterie, produce, and prepared foods offered in this mega-store.

The two-floor DiBruno Bros. on Chestnut Street has all this times ten, along with a separate fish and meat market, a coffee, baked goods, and gelato bar, and an upstairs café with full salad bar, deli, cooked entrées, and sushi bar.

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite for lunch, want to take home a fully prepared meal, need all the ingredients to throw a big party, or you’re looking for a perfect gift basket for your food-loving friend, DiBruno Bros. has it all.

It can get expensive, but both stores are stocked with enough free samples of breads, oils, and cheeses that you just may find you’re no longer hungry for lunch by the time you make it to the cash register.
