Even with a change in ownership and a new dance floor, Woody’s is still the same place it’s been for a long time—the epicenter of gay nightlife in Philadelphia [2]. The huge venue has a half-dozen bars spread out on two floors, an upstairs dance floor, and a restaurant on the street level.

The decor is nothing to write home about—think early-’80s dive with flourishes of ski lodge—but the bartenders are friendly and they have a heavy hand with the booze.

Monday offers karaoke, Wednesday hosts the always-riotous all-ages night, and Saturday is usually wall-to-wall men on the prowl in the upstairs bar and dance floor.
