A paradise for the Indiana Jones at heart, the University of Pennsylvania’s [2] Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology houses a magnificent chest of archaeological treasures. It opened in 1899 and today there are more than 100 unique displays and one million artifacts representing practically every corner of history and prehistory.
Trace the earliest Homo sapiens’ routes through time as you walk the long artifact-lined corridors and wander through rooms that offer glimpses into centuries and civilizations past.
Decipher North America’s earliest hieroglyphics in the Mesoamerica Exhibit; walk before the enormous sphinx at the Palace of the Pharaoh Merenptah; and advance through the technology, art, politics, and religion of the Etruscans, Greeks, Canaanites, and Romans.
