Hollywood may just be rediscovering the musical, but the old razzle-dazzle never left the stage. Here in Philly [2], that stage belongs to the Prince Music Theater. Though founded in 1984 as the American Music Theater Festival, it was reinvented in 1999 with a new name and a new venue on Chestnut Street just off the Avenue of the Arts.
A typical season includes classics like Cole Porter, Annie Get Your Gun, and Hair, as well as new musicals by emerging artists. In addition to its regular season, the Prince hosts a cabaret series and is a venue for Philadelphia’s [2] film festivals.
