Lucky Strike Lanes is the Beverly Hills of bowling, bringing a slice of Los Angeles—where the swank chain originated—to Philadelphia [2]. You’ll pay a high price for the tasty cuisine, modern technology, and posh scene.
The concept is based on the circa-1960 Hollywood Star Lanes, so there is a faux-vintage element to the decor. A strictly enforced dress code forbids sweats, jerseys, headgear, construction boots, sleeveless or “excessively baggy T-shirts,” making Lucky Strikes the most exclusive—ok, only exclusive—alley in town.
Lanes can get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, but many come in just for the scene or to play pool. Lanes can be reserved by the hour for a maximum of two hours, for $45–65 per hour depending on day and time.
No reservations accepted to pay per game. You must be 21 to enter after 8 p.m.
