COST: $250 basic sessions, $595 competitive sessions
The Schuylkill River is one of the nation’s most popular rivers for rowing—which also happens to be a very expensive and exclusive sport. Paul Coomes and Amy Giddings opened PA Rowing Camps in 2000 to provide a (somewhat) more affordable experience.
PA Rowing Camps teaches youths and adults rowing techniques, and a series of four classes (held during summertime) begin at $250. Courses cater to all different ages and skill levels.
If you can’t afford or aren’t up for rowing yourself, you can still hang out by Boathouse Row [2] and watch the collegiate and professional rowers glide by.
