An affordable alternative to staying in Center City, the area to the west of the Schuylkill River is easily reached via several bridges. Numerous Victorian bed-and-breakfasts with loads of character offer a unique alternative to the two chain hotels, the Hilton Inn at Penn [1] and the Sheraton University City. I’ve included a few of the best, but there are plenty more worth considering.
